There’s a continued focus on the girl child and her general well-being to the expense of the boy child, Boys have continued to be neglected, sidelined and abandoned. If boys are not trained then the girls will not be safe in their hands as they stand to be harassed, violated and disrespected. It’s important to note that women are only safe when men are trained because all violence inflicted upon the girl child is administered by the boy child, so men also need to be trained, loved, cared for and encouraged. For a society without strong men to make good and sound decision is a failed society.
It is therefore against this background that I feel the burden to step up into the gap and be the voice to the many voiceless boys and also be an encouragement to the impoverished boys in our society.
The Boy child initiative is therefore an advocate for the boy child that aims at empowering and strengthening the boys in our community to realize their God given potential to become responsible men. It therefore operates on four fundamentals namely;
- Origin
- Meaning
- Morality
- Purpose
This initiative points these boys towards God through the four fundamentals named, it’s through God that we derive our Identity (who we are), our meaning in this life, our purpose for life and our code of conduct through his word. It also carries out counselling and career guidance to the boys in our community.
If only we can do something the future would be bright, there would be a hope that these boys would cling to. Therefore, a mindset should be constructed in society towards paying close attention to the concerns of the boy child.
